Question and Answers

YOU ASK AND WE ANSWER

Is marriage in Costa Rica valid in my country?

Yes, any civil marriage in Costa Rica is going to be valid in your country of origin or residence. Costa Rica follows international laws that recognize and validate marriage in many countries around the world such as USA, Canada, England, Sweden, Israel, Denmark, Russia, Brazil, Lithuania, and Australia. These are some of the countries from the list of weddings that Noel Ibo has had the privilege and experience to share.

Can I use any other documents to get married instead of the passport?

What documents are required to get married in Costa Rica?

You only need copies of valid passports from the bride, groom and two witnesses and fill out the attached personal information forms.

How long does it take to get my marriage license or certificate after the ceremony?

The next working day, after the celebration of the magical wedding, Noel will digitally register your marriage, presenting the required passport copies to the Costa Rican Civil Registry, Marriage Registration Department. In a period of no more than 15 business days, his marriage will be registered, obtaining a certificate / license in Spanish, of which a copy of the original will be sent to him through electronic means. This Spanish marriage certificate / license will be sent to be translated into English or the language of your choice by an official translator of the Costa Rican government. Once the marriage license or certificate is translated into the language of your choice, both the certificate in Spanish and the translation will be taken to the Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be apostilled, which will grant official recognition in your country of origin. Once all this procedure has been completed, your original marriage certificate / license will be sent to the address of your choice.
